Istoric
Ridicata in 1530 de Petru Rares, Manastirea Probota a fost conceputa ca necropola domneasca, aici fiind inmormantati ctitorul, sotia sa Elena si alti membri ai familiei. Ctitoria se numara printre primele biserici din Moldova pictate in interior si exterior(1535). Pictura originala se mai pastreaza numai in pridvor si pronaos. Neprotejata, pictura exterioara, in mare parte, a disparut, abia distingandu-se astazi temele ” Imnul Acatist” si “Arborele lui Iesei”. Desfiintata in 1864, manastirea s-a redeschis in 1991. In 1996 au fost incepute vaste lucrari de restaurare a picturii.
